Chess Puzzles
Short chess puzzles: find the move that gives checkmate. They start with simple endings and move on to famous traps and mates in two.
A wrong move is taken back so you can try again, and a hint shows which piece to move.
How to play
- Look at who moves and how many moves you have.
- Find the checkmate. Wrong moves are taken back.
- Use the hint if you get stuck.
A bit of history
Chess problems are older than modern chess itself: collections of mate puzzles were written in Arabic in the 9th century.
